We run airline and business jet focused upset recovery courses helping to give pilots the skill to recognise and recover from unusual attitudes. From 20 December 2019 a new regulation came into force mandating commercial pilots to have attended and passed this course before starting their first type rating.
Our Advanced UPRT courses in accordance with FCL.745.A, are certified by EASA. We also run Instructor Training Courses for Adv UPRT instructors, again certified by EASA.
Recent history is full of incidents and accidents associated with loss of control of Airline and Business jet aircraft and control either not being regained in a timely manner or not being regained at all. This worrying trend has been identified by the various regulatory authorities and from 20 Dec 19 student pilots will be required to undergo appropriate training.
Currently there is no requirement to give real aircraft training to existing Type Rated pilots. Mandating this training would of course be difficult because there is simply not the training capacity available. We at the British Aerobatic Academy would be interested in helping resolve or at least mitigate the problem.
We have extensive experience working with commercial pilots as a large percentage of our clients are airline or business jet pilots, many very senior. We can offer packages that will be enthusiastically received by line crew and could save your airline millions of pounds. In short, we are offering a real life saver.
We have worked through our prices carefully and believe we are offering the best value for money. We are using the very best aircraft and work hard to keep the prices at a reasonable level. Unlike our competitors, most of our aerobatic students are airline pilots and we would very much like to see our Adv UPRT students return as airline pilots and get to love aerobatic training with us..
The advanced UPRT course is designed to meet the requirements of Part-FCL 745.A
Theoretical knowledge instruction delivered via online Zoom meeting
Dual flight instruction with a suitably qualified FI(A) ref FCL.915(e)
Pre-flight briefings and post-flight debriefings
On completion of the UPRT course, applicants will be issued with a certificate of course completion by the British Aviation Academy.
Exercises to demonstrate:
The course takes 2 days; a day for Ground School and a day for flying. You will need to complete the Ground School, 5 hours via Zoom included in the price, before you can fly. We aim to complete the flying element, 3 x 1 hour sorties, in a day, where possible, if the course can not be completed in a day we will arrange a suitable time with you to complete everything.
We fly Grob and Extra aircraft for this course.
There are local hotels, pubs and Air B and B’s available near the airfield. The closest chain hotel to the airfield is The Holiday Inn Express at Whittlesford.
The course is a pass fail course as mandated by EASA, of course we do not expect you to fail, we have never had anybody fail and before we failing you and potentially destroying your commercial flying career, we would offer you extra training etc. however we do require full payment before the course starts. We ask for a deposit to secure the booking, normally £750, this is non refundable, because it costs us a lot of money to run our very expensive aircraft and our excellent instructors. We keep our profit margins to the minimum necessary (this is why despite our aircraft being the best, we are still able to charge approximately half the price of our competitors) to give a sound business footing and running courses below capacity is very costly given the very high fixed overheads.
If you are unable to complete the course, we will not refund any part of the course fee. If you air sick in the aircraft, and make a revolting mess, we will expect you to clean it up and if you do not or do not do a proper job, we will clean it up and charge you an expensive but fair price.
If you fail to turn up for an agreed appointment, or turn up in a condition that makes you not fit to fly, we will endeavour to look after you but if the cause is laziness, we reserve the right to charge you to reschedule.
So far in many years of trading, we have never had a single complaint. We naturally hope to continue this excellent record of service.
